Atlanta, GA (June 11, 2024) – At the request of the Atlanta Police Department (APD), GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Atlanta, Georgia. During the incident, four people were injured.  No officers were injured.

Preliminary information indicates that at about 2:15 p.m., Jeremy Malone, age 34, of Morrow, GA, walked into the Peachtree Center Mall located at 239 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA.  Once  inside the mall, Malone got into an altercation with a man and Malone pulled out a gun and shot him. Malone walked further into the food court area of the mall and shot two other people. Malone continued and encountered an Atlanta Police Officer, who fired at Malone, hitting him. 

Malone and the three victims were taken to local hospitals. Malone has been treated and released into APD custody. The other people (victims) are reportedly in stable condition and being treated for their injuries

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once complete, the case file will be given to the Fulton District Attorney’s Office for review.
