Statesboro, Bulloch County, GA (May 2, 2024) – At the request of the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating the death of Robert Linwood Chavers, age 68, of Statesboro, Georgia, an inmate in the Bulloch County Jail. 

On Thursday, May 2, 2024, at about 7:20 a.m., the GBI was requested by the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office in reference to an unresponsive inmate. Chavers was discovered unresponsive in his cell by jail staff at about 6:30 a.m. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, and Chavers was pronounced dead at the jail.
