West Point, Troup County, GA (December 4, 2023) – The GBI is conducting a death investigation after Jesus Mena Lopez, age 43, of Thomasville, NC, and Kylie Ashlyn Womack, age 26, of West Point, GA, were found dead inside a home on Avenue B, West Point, GA, following a welfare check. On December 3, 2023, the West Point Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an investigation into the deaths. 

Preliminary information indicates that on December 3, 2023, at around 9:00 p.m., the West Point Police Department was dispatched to a home on Avenue B, West Point, GA for a welfare check on the residents of the home. Officers arrived on scene and found Lopez and Womack dead inside the home. A handgun was found next to Lopez. Lopez and Womack both appeared to have been shot.  

This investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the GBI regional investigative office in Midland at (706) 565-7888.
