GBI Investigates Shooting in Thomson
UPDATE – November 27, 2023:
On Friday, November 24, 2023, Rashawn Coleman, age 15, and Radarius Coleman, age 14, both of Valdosta, GA, were arrested and charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and gang charges. They were taken to the Thomasville Youth Detention Center where they are currently being held.
UPDATE – November 21, 2023:
On Friday, November 17, 2023, Dequadrez Walker, age 18, of Thomson, GA, and Camerin McNair, age 15, of Thomson, GA, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and gang charges. After the victim in this case died from his injury on November 18, 2023, the case was upgraded to a homicide investigation, and additional warrants of felony murder were then obtained for Walker and McNair.
Walker was taken to the McDuffie County Jail and McLair was taken to the Augusta Youth Detention Center.
On November 20, 2023, Teyiceazhia Williams, age 16, of Thomson, GA, was also arrested and charged with felony murder for her involvement in the case. She is now being held in the Augusta Youth Detention Center.
This investigation is still ongoing.
UPDATE - November 19, 2023:
Yesterday morning, the 13-year-old victim in this case died. The case is now being investigated as a homicide.

Thomson, GA (November 16, 2023) - The GBI is conducting a shooting investigation at the request of the Thomson Police Department regarding a shooting in which a 13-year-old was shot.
On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at around 6:30 p.m., the Thomson Police Department responded to a call of gunfire at the 500 block of Anderson Avenue, Thomson, GA. When officers arrived, they found a 13-year-old boy from Thomson unresponsive with a gunshot wound. The preliminary information indicates that the victim and other minors were located in the 500 block of Anderson Avenue when several unidentified men approached and shot at the home multiple times, one of which hit the victim.
The victim was taken to a local hospital. He is in critical condition.
The GBI Regional Investigative Office in Thomson is currently following several leads in hopes of identifying the shooter or shooters in this case.
