GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Roswell

Roswell, GA (October 13, 2023) – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Roswell, GA. The Woodstock Police Department requested the GBI to investigate on Thursday, October 12, 2023.  One man was shot and seriously injured. No officers were injured in this incident.  

The preliminary information indicates that on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at around 10:45 p.m., a Woodstock P.D. officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a person driving a gray Hyundai. The driver, later identified as Emmanuel Millard, age 20, of Marietta, GA, refused to stop and led Woodstock P.D. officers on a vehicle pursuit into Cobb County. Woodstock P.D. officers performed a PIT maneuver on Millard’s car and boxed him in. As officers attempted to remove Milliard from the car, an officer fired once, hitting Millard. Millard was removed from the car by officers who rendered aid until EMS arrived on scene. Millard was taken to North Fulton Hospital in serious condition.  

 The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once complete, the case file will be given to the Cobb District Attorney’s Office for review.
