Commercial Gambling Search Warrant
Lawrenceville, GA – On Wednesday, October 23, 2013, the GBI’s newly created Commercial Gambling Unit, along with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Department of Revenue and in cooperation with the Georgia Lottery Corporation executed a search warrant at the Sunoco Food Mart at 2490 Cruse Road in Lawrenceville for violations of Georgia’s commercial gambling laws. The Food Mart is currently licensed to operate Coin Operated Amusement Machines. However, during the course of the investigation, agents discovered customers were receiving cash payouts for winning credits. In Georgia, credits may only be redeemed for lottery tickets and/or store merchandise. The GBI arrested Mohammed Majeed, 41, of Lilburn, Georgia, for two felony counts of commercial gambling and seized monetary assets gained from the illegal use of the coin operated amusement machines.
