Clarkston, GA (April 25, 2021) – On Sunday, April 25, 2021, the GBI was requested by the Clarkston Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 12:30 a.m., Clarkston Police officers responded to a 911 call involving a domestic incident with shots fired at an apartment complex located at 3629 Montreal Creek Circle, Clarkston, GA. Upon arrival, officers encountered Reginald Maurice Gadson, 29, in a parking lot. While attempting to make contact with Gadson, he entered a nearby vehicle and sped toward the officers. One officer was struck by the vehicle while a second officer fired at Gadson. Gadson continued past the officers and left the area. Gadson was later located by police in Stone Mountain uninjured and transported to the DeKalb County Jail. The officer struck by Gadson’s vehicle was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and released with non-life threatening injuries.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Upon completion, it will be turned over to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
