Clayton County Man Arrested for Aggravated Child Molestation and the Sexual Exploitation of Children

Jonesboro, GA (March 25, 2021) – On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit received an escalated cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) concerning the possible production of child pornography. Immediately upon receipt of the information from NCMEC, an investigation was initiated. This investigation led to a residential search warrant at the home of Mac Baxley, in Jonesboro, GA on the same evening. Evidence recovered during the search warrant subsequently led to the arrest of Baxley, age 44, for Aggravated Child Molestation and 3 counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children (Production of Child Pornography).  The GBI CEACC Unit was assisted with the residential search warrant by the GBI Atlanta Field Office and the Jonesboro Police Department.

Baxley is currently in custody at the Clayton County Jail.

This investigation is part of the ongoing effort by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, housed within the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, to identify those involved in the child pornography trade. The ICAC Program, created by the U.S. Department of Justice, was developed in response to the increasing number of children and teenagers using the Internet, the proliferation of child pornography, and the heightened online activity by predators searching for unsupervised contact with underage victims.
