Thomas County, GA (November 10, 2020) - On Saturday, November 7, 2020, at approximately 6:43 p.m., the GBI was requested by the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an officer involved shooting that occurred at the Thomasville Truck Stop on US-84.

Preliminary information indicates that a Thomas County Drug Agent received information that a male who was wanted on active warrants was at the Thomasville Truck Stop. The agent, along with other Thomas County Sheriff’s Office deputies, arrived to attempt to locate the vehicle with the wanted person inside. Initial reports to GBI agents are that as the Thomas County Drug Agent was attempting to approach the vehicle, the vehicle began to speed away and the Drug Agent fired his weapon at the fleeing vehicle. At this time, it appears that no subjects were shot during the incident. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the GBI at 229-225-4090.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once the investigation is completed, the case will be turned over to the Thomas County District Attorney’s office for review.
