Warrenton, GA (September 15, 2020). – On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, Dentavis Wiley, 24, of Warrenton was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime regarding the shooting of Jamal Dawson, 25, of Warrenton. Wiley is currently being held at the McDuffie County Jail.

On Monday, September 14, 2020, at approximately 3:15 a.m., the Warrenton Police Department was called to the Jet Food Store on Main Street in Warrenton regarding a person being shot. Upon arrival, officers located Dawson in the parking lot with several gunshot wounds. Dawson was transported to a hospital in Augusta where he is being treated for his injuries. The GBI was requested to assist with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing and upon completion will be turned over to the Toombs Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Anyone with information is asked to call the GBI at 706-595-2575 or the Warrenton Police Department at 706-465-3309.
