Baldwin County, GA (May 6, 2020) – On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the GBI was requested to assist the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office with a shooting investigation. At approximately 2:26 p.m., the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a call from a citizen advising an individual was driving erratic on Highway 212, while traveling toward Milledgeville, GA. At approximately 2:36 p.m., Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office deputies identified the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle proceeded into the parking lot of Central Georgia Technical Institute on Highway 22 in Milledgeville, GA. When Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office deputies approached the vehicle, they discovered the driver had shot himself. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Stuart Sinclair Wiggins, 58, from Royston, Hart County, GA. Wiggins was airlifted to Navicent Medical Center in Macon, GA, where he is in critical condition.
