Atlanta, GA (January 19, 2020) – On Saturday, January 18, 2020, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the GBI was requested by the Atlanta Police Department (APD) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary indication indicates that at approximately 8:15 p.m., an APD officer responded to a “shots fired” call at Lenox Square Mall, 3393 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, Georgia.  The officer located two (2) subjects, Christian Edlin (21 years old from Louisville, KY) and another subject, who had firearms pointed at a subject identified as Antonio Williams (23 years old from Flint, Michigan) in the parking deck.  During the incident, the officer discharged his firearm, striking Edlin.  Edlin was transported to a local hospital and is in serious but stable condition. 

The officer was not injured during the incident. 

APD charged Edlin with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and Carrying a Pistol Without a License.  APD also charged Williams with Robbery by Snatching and Giving a False Name and Date of Birth.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation and once it is complete, it will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
