Brookhaven, GA (December 9, 2019) – On Monday, December 9, 2019, at approximately 3:35 a.m., the GBI Atlanta Regional Office was requested by the Brookhaven Police Department to conduct an officer involved shooting investigation.

Preliminary information indicates that during the early morning hours of Monday December 9, 2019, officers were dispatched to The Marq of Brookhaven apartment complex located at 50 Lincoln Court Avenue, Brookhaven, DeKalb County, GA, in reference to a vehicle break in.  

Officers encountered a truck fleeing from the scene. The truck drove towards one of the officers and the officer discharged his weapon at the vehicle. The vehicle continued to flee and drove through the exit gate of the apartment complex.

No officers were injured during the incident. It is unknown whether any of the subjects in the vehicle were injured during the incident. Brookhaven Police identified several other vehicles broken into. It is believed that the driver of the fleeing truck is a suspect in the break ins.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation of the officer involved shooting. Upon completion of the investigation, it will be turned over the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
