Lakeland, GA. – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been requested to investigate a use of force incident involving a deputy from the Lanier County Sheriff's office and a Georgia State Trooper.  The incident occurred Saturday evening after 9 PM at 196 North Highway 135 in Lakeland and resulted in Tim Blanton, 42 years old, being shot. The Lanier County deputy and the Georgia State Trooper were not injured during the incident.

Blanton is being treated at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Charges against Blanton are pending.
