Atlanta, GA (May 9, 2022) –  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer involved shooting in Atlanta, Georgia. The Atlanta Police Department asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on May 9, 2022.  One man was injured during the incident. No officers were injured.

The preliminary information indicates that around 7:15 a.m., police received a 911 call about a domestic violence incident involving Raphael Trammell, 25, of Atlanta, having a handgun and knife at an apartment at 303 Skipper Place, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.  As officers arrived at the apartment complex, an officer encountered Trammell, 25, with two handguns and a knife.  The officer fired his gun, hitting Trammell.  It was determined that just prior to the officer firing his gun, Trammell had fired a handgun in the direction of a group of children waiting for their school bus.  No children were physically injured.  Trammel was taken to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.  

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once complete, the case file will be given to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
