Atlanta, GA (March 23, 2020) – On Monday, March 23, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Atlanta Police Department (APD) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 5:00 a.m., APD was dispatched to the Martin Street Plaza Apartments, located at 600 Martin Street, Atlanta, GA in reference to a vehicle break-in. The subjects of the break-in were in a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle involved in an earlier pedestrian robbery in the area. While in the apartment complex, officers approached the vehicle and the vehicle fled from the officers through the apartment complex. The vehicle drove towards officers while they were canvassing the area and the officers discharged their weapons at the vehicle. The subjects crashed the vehicle in the complex and approximately 3-4 subjects fled from the vehicle and the scene. The subjects’ current whereabouts are unknown. There was a gun located inside the vehicle. 

No officers were injured during the incident.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation and upon completion, it will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
