LaGrange, GA (January 20, 2020) – On Monday, January 20, 2020, the GBI was requested by the LaGrange Police Department to conduct an officer involved shooting and homicide investigation.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 1:10 a.m., the LaGrange Police Department responded to an unknown problem at Tall Pines Apartments, 150 Turner Street, LaGrange, GA. Jazmen Glanton, 29, was involved in a domestic altercation and fight with his girlfriend, Phatrial Simms, 25. Simms’ brother, Patrick Reeves, 19, called 911. 

At approximately 1:15 a.m., LaGrange Police Department Officer Megan Keith arrived at the Tall Pines Apartments. A short time later, at approximately 1:19 a.m., Officer Keith saw Reeves shoot Glanton at which time the officer gave verbal commands and shot Reeves, striking Reeves in the arm. 

Glanton was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Reeves was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation of the officer involved shooting and homicide. Upon completion of the investigation, it will be turned over the Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
