Murray County, GA - On Monday, June 18, 2018, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Murray County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) arrested Joel Maggi, of Chatsworth, GA, age 22, for one count cruelty to children in the first degree for injuries sustained by his infant (two-month-old) son. 

The GBI was contacted by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office after the Murray County Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) office contacted MCSO after reports received by T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.  The infant was transported to the children’s hospital unresponsive and with unexplained life threating injuries. 

Joel Maggi was booked in to the Murray County jail without incident.

The GBI and MCSO will continue its joint investigation.  Once complete it will be turned over to the Murray County DA’s office for prosecution.
