Atlanta, GA – On Thursday, December 28, 2017, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by the Atlanta Police Department (APD) to investigate an officer involved shooting.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 1:50 p.m., APD officers responded to 204 Linkwood Road NW after a resident returned home and saw that a window had been broken.  Officers were also informed that Altman Hall, 34, may be inside the house.  Hall had previously been evicted from the residence and had a protection order against him.

Officers and a family member attempted to enter the house, but their efforts were blocked by Hall.  Hall also warned officers away and told them he had a gun.

Officers secured the premises and APD SWAT was called.  SWAT team members setup a perimeter around the house and contacted Hall via cell phone to attempt to de-escalate the situation. Negotiators spoke with him for approximately 45 minutes. Hall refused to comply with any requests and made threatening comments against the officers and himself.   Hall indicated he would shoot at officers as he exited the residence.

During the standoff, Hall was observed by SWAT team members near the front doorway.  An officer fired two shots, one of which struck Hall in the lower abdomen.  Hall then closed and locked the front door.  Officers approached the home and made a tactical entry.  Hall was found in the front room of the house and was alert and conscious as medics rendered first-aid.  Hall was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is in stable condition.

Hall has been charged by APD with aggravated stalking and burglary, both felonies.

A search of the house by GBI agents did not find any firearms.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation.  Once completed, the case will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
