GBI Investigates Shooting Incident in Atlanta, GA

Atlanta, Georgia – On Thursday, November 17, 2016, the Atlanta Police Department (APD) requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to investigate a shooting incident in Atlanta, Georgia.

Preliminary information provided by Atlanta authorities indicates that at approximately 2:24 AM, a fight erupted inside Club La Vie on Luckie Street and continued outside of the club on Simpson Street.  A subject from the club discharged a firearm and was shot at by a uniformed off-duty APD officer.  The subject fled the scene and has not been located.  There is no confirmation that the subject was struck when shot at by the officer.  Evidence was located at the scene indicating that more than one weapon was discharged.

The officer was not injured during this incident.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation to determine what occurred during the incident.  When the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office for review.
