GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in Jackson, GA
Jackson, Georgia – On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at approximately 12:30 AM, the GBI was requested by the Jackson Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting incident that occurred on Camelia Ct, Jackson, Georgia.
Preliminary information indicates that shortly after midnight Officer Sherry Hall was patrolling the north sector of the City of Jackson. While traveling down Camelia Ct., she observed a subject sitting in the wood line at the side of the road. Officer Hall stopped and confronted the subject at which time the subject pulled a gun and shot Officer Hall one time, striking her in the abdomen area of her body armor. Officer Hall returned fire but the subject fled. Officer Hall was transported to the Medical Center in Macon with non-life threatening injuries. The subject is described as a black male, in his late 20’s to 30’s, approximately 5’ 8” to 6’ tall, and approximately 230 to 240 pounds. Officer Hall has been treated and released from the hospital.
The GBI will conduct an independent investigation to determine what occurred during the incident. When the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the District Attorney's Office for review.
