Seizure of 172 Marijuana Plants in West Georgia and Alabama
Tallapoosa, GA and Fruithurst, AL –On July 16, members of the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office (GA), Haralson Paulding Drug Task Force, Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office (AL), and the Alabama State Patrol conducted a joint Marijuana Eradication investigation in Haralson County and Cleburne County. Haralson County Sheriff’s Office received information concerning a large Marijuana grow operation near the border of Haralson County and Polk County, GA. With the assistance of the Alabama State Patrol Aviation Division, agents, deputies, and troopers were able to eradicate a large number of marijuana plants from a large wooded area near Hwy 100 and Treat Mountain Rd. in Tallapoosa. During transit of the aviation unit, Alabama State Patrol pilots observed a large number of marijuana plants located approximately 50 yards from Hwy. 78 in Fruithurst, Alabama. Agents, deputies, and troopers located and eradicated an additional number of marijuana plants from that location. The number of plants eradicated on this date by law enforcement was 172 adult marijuana plants. The estimated value of the marijuana plants seized is $258,000. No arrests have been made.
