Douglas, GA- On Tuesday, March 31, 2015, Coffee County Detention Officer James Avery Dixon, 53 years old of Douglas, was arrested and charged with three (3) counts of Sexual Assault by person with supervisory or disciplinary authority and one (1) count of Violation of Oath by a Public Officer by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Coffee County, Georgia.

The arrest occurred after Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten requested the GBI Douglas Office on March 31, 2015, to investigate allegations made by a female inmate of sexual misconduct by a male detention officer at the Coffee County Jail. The allegations were made by the female inmate within the past few days during an unrelated internal investigation being conducted by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. The allegations dated back to December 2014 and included an allegation that occurred on March 31, 2015.
