Adel, Georgia, - On Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at approximately 3:16 p.m., The Cook County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to 2 small children who had been left at a rest area located on the south bound lanes of I-75 in Cook County, Ga. Cook County responded and requested the assistance of the GBI office in Douglas.

Upon arrival at the rest area, Deputies determined that a 9 year old female and a 5 year old female had been left at the rest area. A lookout was issued based on witness description of the vehicle the children had been in prior to the vehicle leaving the rest area.

The vehicle arrived in Ocala, Florida before the adult occupants realized the 2 children were not in the vehicle and they called 911. There was a 2 year old girl and a 4 month old boy still in the vehicle. The occupants then came back to Cook County where they were each arrested on 2 counts of Cruelty to Children and 2 counts of Child Abandonment.  Those arrested were Olivia Alexandria Miller (25 YOA), mother of the children, and Andrew Joseph Champion (25 YOA), who is the boyfriend of the mother. Both reside in Silver Springs, Florida.

The investigation is being conducted by the Cook S.O., and the GBI. If anyone has information pertaining to the investigation, please contact the Cook County S.O. at 229-896-7471 or the GBI Douglas Office at 912-389-4103.
