Atlanta, GA (August 19, 2018) – On Sunday, August 19, 2018, the GBI was requested by the Atlanta Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 4:37 a.m., officers went to the area of 1032 Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta responding to a 911 call from an individual reporting that a family member had pointed a gun at them. Upon arrival, officers encountered Jeremiah Perdue, 33, and attempted to stop him. At some point, Perdue was observed with a firearm and officers discharged their weapons, fatally striking Perdue. A firearm was located near the subject and appeared to have been discharged.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation. Once complete, it will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney for review.
