GBI Makes Multiple Arrests in Fraud Investigation
Decatur, GA (May 10, 2018) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested Jousha Cannon, age 24, Lavante Page, age 28, and Eric Stokley, age 20, for charges that include Forgery in the 3rd Degree, Theft by Taking (felony), ID Fraud (felony), and Negotiating and Executing Fictitious Checks.
In February 2018, the GBI initiated an investigation into fraudulent checks bearing a GBI bank account number. Special Agents conducted interviews and collected numerous documents which developed multiple suspects in this case. During this investigation, other fraudulent checks were discovered bearing different business banking account numbers from within Georgia, Texas, and Illinois. Special Agents also identified an individual in the Atlanta area allegedly printing and creating counterfeit checks.
These charges were out of Henry, Fulton, and Cobb counties. The investigation into the printing and creating fraudulent checks is still ongoing.
