DALLAS, GA. - The GBI’s Regional Office in Calhoun was requested by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday at approximately 2:00am to conduct an investigation into an incident involving Paulding County Sheriff’s Deputy Patrick Huston.

Paulding County Deputies had responded to a domestic violence call at 88 Bethnal Way, Douglasville GA in Paulding County.  Huston initially refused to cooperate and communicate with the responding deputies so the Sheriff’s Office activated their SWAT team. Huston eventually surrendered peacefully and was transported to Wellstar Hospital in Dallas for evaluation.

At the hospital Huston became combative with deputies and was taken to Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and booked on misdemeanor Obstruction of an Officer charge. Alcohol may have been a factor. Huston is in the Paulding county jail awaiting a bond hearing.

The GBI investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.
