Cedartown, GA – On Wednesday, July 20, 2016, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested former Jailor Harry Dallas Battle, age 61, on charges of violation of oath of office (felony), false statement (felony), and battery (misdemeanor).  The arrest followed an investigation that began on July 8, 2016 after the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office requested GBI to conduct an investigation.  Battle was accused of using a Taser on an inmate while the inmate was restrained on July 7, 2016.  Battle resigned as a jailor on July 8th.  

Battle turned himself in to the Polk County jail without incident and was released on bond.  Once the investigation is completed, it will be turned over to the DA’s office for prosecution.
