Blairsville, GA –  The Union County Sheriff’s Office received information that a Union County Jailer was involved in inappropriate contact with an inmate on August 19, 2014.  Information learned during an internal investigation prompted Sheriff Mack Mason to request the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation with a criminal investigation on August 26, 2014.  On August 27, the GBI arrested former Union County Jailer Andrew Martin, 36, of Blairsville, on sexual assault charges.
