Douglas, GA- On Thursday, October 23, 2014, Kevin Grantham was arrested and charged with 1 count of Simple Battery by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Coffee County, Georgia. The arrest occurred after Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten requested the GBI Douglas Office investigate a use of force complaint made by an inmate against a Coffee County Deputy while at the Coffee County Courthouse in Douglas Georgia.

On Thursday, October 9, 2014, Sandarius Coney was located at the Coffee County Courthouse for a court proceeding. At the conclusion of his court appearance, Coney, who was restrained with handcuffs and leg restraints, was placed in a room to be held until he could be transported back to the Coffee County jail. Coney began causing a disturbance and later reported that Deputy Grantham had entered the room and slapped him in the face with an open hand.
