GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in East Dublin, GA
East Dublin, GA (April 30, 2020) – On Thursday, April 30, 2020, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Eastman Office was requested by the East Dublin Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting as well as an aggravated assault that occurred prior to the officer using force.
Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 4:43 pm., the East Dublin Police Department was dispatched to a fight in progress at Buckeye Park at the intersection of Ruby Jefferson Boulevard and Buckeye Road, East Dublin, Laurens County, Georgia. When the responding officer arrived, the officer observed an individual shooting in the direction of the park. During the incident, the officer discharged his weapon at the individual firing towards the park. The officer heard gunshots also coming from the park area and it was believed that the individuals involved in the initial aggravated assault investigation were in mutual combat. No one was injured as a result of the officer firing his weapon.
No officers were injured during the incident.
Gregory Cuyler, age 21, was taken into custody as a result of the incident. Cuyler is being housed at the Laurens County Law Enforcement Center. Charges will be forthcoming against Cuyler.

The GBI will continue its independent investigation into the officer involved shooting. Once completed, it will be turned over to the Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
