Snellville, GA (February 19, 2024) – The GBI has arrested and charged Keegan Gates, age 17, of Decatur, GA, with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a person under 18. On Sunday, February 18, 2024, the Snellville Police Department asked the GBI to investigate the shooting death of Nasir Davis, age 16, of Lithonia, GA. 

The investigation shows that on Saturday, February 17, 2024, a fight broke out during a party in the 1900 block of Scenic Highway, Snellville, GA. During the fight, Gates shot Davis who was also at the party. The investigation suggests that Gates and Davis knew each other. Davis was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Gates is currently booked at the Gwinnett County Jail.   

The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy on Davis.
