Athens, GA – On Monday, April 26, 2016, an Athens man was arrested for threats he made on social media to an Athens-Clarke County Police Officer.  Joshua Jackson, age 23, of Athens, GA, was taken into custody after issuing a threat on a posting attached to a WSB-TV Channel 2 (Atlanta) public news story about an officer involved shooting in Athens that occurred April 23, 2016. 

On April 25, 2016, the Athens-Clarke County Police Chief requested that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) assist with this investigation.  The GBI and FBI investigated the threats and were assisted by the Athens Clarke Police in locating Jackson. 

Jackson was charged with Terroristic Threats (felony) and Dissemination of Information Relating to Terroristic Acts (misdemeanor).  He was taken into custody without incident.  This investigation is active and ongoing and once completed, it will be turned over to the Clarke County District Attorney’s Office for judicial review.
