Lexington, GA - On August 24, 2015, the GBI responded to a request for assistance from the Oglethorpe County Sheriff's Office regarding the investigation of an incident that began as a barricaded gunman and evolved into a vehicle pursuit where gunfire was exchanged with law enforcement.

UPDATE: The first victim has been identified as Hayley Nicole Hill, 23 years of age.  Hill had reportedly been involved in a relationship with Arnold. At the time of the shooting, Hill was pregnant.  The child was delivered and pronounced dead upon delivery at a local hospital last night. The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine a cause of death. The second victim has been identified as Paul Donald Davis, 58 years of age. Both victims remain hospitalized. At this time, there is no known connection between Davis and Arnold.  Agencies involved in the incident included the Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office, Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol.

The GBI will conduct a thorough and independent investigation into Arnold and the involved agencies’ use of force to determine what occurred during the incident.  When the investigation is complete it will be turned over to the District Attorney for any action they deem appropriate.
