Decatur, GA -Members of the GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office (RDEO) and the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office executed five search warrants at various locations today, culminating an 18 month long narcotics investigation. During the course of the investigation, agents conducted surveillances identifying key figures in a multi-state marijuana distribution organization. During the investigation large amounts of marijuana were seized along with a significant amount of U.S. Currency. 

Search warrants were executed at the following locations today:

  1. 2685 Grady Street, Smyrna, Georgia
  2. 1930 Suite E Airport Industrial Blvd, Marietta, Georgia
  3. 1930 Suite A Airport Industrial Blvd, Marietta, Georgia
  4. 2649 Wolf Lake Drive, Atlanta, Georgia
  5. 3040 Unit 1206 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, Georgia

Rodgers Demond Burks, 38, of 2685 Grady Street, Smyrna; Riyaad Nabaa, 37, of 2649 Wolf Lake Drive, Atlanta; and Cherisa Saunders, 44, of 3040 Unit 1206 Peachtree Road, Atlanta were arrested on Conspiracy to Traffic Marijuana charges. All three were transported to the Cobb County Jail.

This was a joint investigation between GBI West Metro RDEO and the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office.  The Atlanta Police Departments Narcotics Unit and K-9 Unit, Georgia State Patrol, Fulton County PD, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Georgia Department of Revenue, Cobb County PD, and Smyrna PD assisted today with the execution of the search warrants and arrests.

The GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office is located in Carrollton, Georgia and services 26 counties. The office is comprised of members from the GBI, Carrollton PD., Villa Rica PD, Bowden PD, Lagrange PD, Atlanta PD, Fulton County PD, Carroll County SO, Meriwether County SO, and Heard County SO.
