The GBI offers interesting and exciting employment opportunities in various forensic and investigative career positions, as well as staff support positions. Positions are located throughout the state as well as at our headquarters in Decatur, Georgia, which is located approximately ten miles from downtown Atlanta.

Crime Lab Scientist

Internship opportunities are available for Special Agent, Crime Lab Scientists and, occasionally, other specialized jobs. You must be a college junior or senior in order to be considered.

Technical and specialized positions include forensic computer specialists, criminal intelligence analysts, and fingerprint specialists. Educational requirements vary, but most GBI positions require a four-year college degree.

The GBI also offers employment opportunities in administrative and support positions, including careers in Human Resources, Finance, and Facilities Management, as well as positions in administrative office support.

HOW TO APPLY FOR GBI JOBS:

The Narcotics Agent is the only job for which applications are placed in a hold file. These applications are held for one year or until interviews for a Narcotics Agent is held. Applications for other GBI positions should be submitted when an actual vacancy is posted.
