Internship Program

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Intern Program, which is administered by the GBI Personnel Office, is a valuable learning experience for college and university students interested in a criminal justice  related career. The length of the internship is one quarter or semester as determined by the intern's college or university, with the concurrence of appropriate GBI supervisory personnel.

ELIGIBILITY
The program is open to full-time students interested in a criminal justice related career who are currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree at an accredited college or university. Students must be juniors or seniors at a four-year college or university or first year graduate students in order to participate in the program. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Citizen at least 18 years of age.
  2. In good academic standing with their college or university.
  3. Recommended by their college or university to participate in the program.
  4. Must be enrolled in school during the semester the student plans to intern.

DISQUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Applicants will be disqualified from participation in the GBI Intern Program for any of the following:

GUIDELINES AND RESTRICTIONS

SUMMARY REPORT

At the conclusion of an internship, the intern will complete a written evaluation of the field experience, emphasizing the strong and weak points of the program and any recommendations for change. The appropriate GBI work unit supervisor will also complete a written evaluation of the student and the program just completed. Copies of the above evaluations will be forwarded to the student's college or university and to the GBI Office of Personnel for filing and for dissemination to appropriate supervisory personnel.
