Cairo, Georgia - On Thursday, January 25, 2018, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Cairo Police Department requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation regarding an armed robbery and aggravated assault that took place at Hud’s Convenience Store, located at 375 5th St. S.E., in Cairo.

The clerk on duty was shot by a masked subject who entered the store wearing a black jacket, white polo style shirt, red skull cap and dark colored gloves.  The subject then fled the store.

The Bainbridge Department of Public Safety, Grady County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia State Patrol assisted in the search for the gunman. The subject has not been located.  Agents and police are continuing to follow leads, gather and review evidence, and identify any witnesses.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the GBI office in Thomasville at 229-225-4090, the Cairo Police Department, or Grady County 911.
