Soperton, GA. – The GBI is investigating an alleged assault which occurred on the evening of Tuesday, August 4 at the 221 C Store on Mt. Vernon Road in Soperton. The allegation under investigation is that one man assaulted another man by striking him with his fists while inside the store.

As a result of investigation, arrest warrants were issued on Monday, August 10, for Royce Fowler, 51, of Soperton, charging him with one count of Battery and one count of Terroristic Threats & Acts. Fowler, a Soperton City Councilman, turned himself in to the Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office on Monday after learning warrants had been issued for his arrest.  The investigation is being conducted by the GBI office in Eastman at the request of the Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
