Swainsboro, Georgia – A paraprofessional at the River Quest School in Burke County has been charged by the GBI after an investigation indicated she had been involved in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student at the school.  River Quest is a multi-county school for children with emotional and behavioral issues.

Holly R. Whitfield, 22, of Swainsboro, has been charged with Sexual Assault, Aggravated Child Molestation, Enticing a Child for Indecent Acts, and Sodomy.  Whitefield surrendered today to authorities at the Burke County Jail. 

Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

On Wednesday, April 28, 2011, the GBI was requested by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office to assist in the investigation after the allegations against Whitfield surfaced.  

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office, the Augusta Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office and the Board of Directors for the River Quest School assisted in the investigation.
