Perry, GA—On Saturday, April 21, 2012, a park ranger patrolling Camp Benjamin Hawkins Boy Scout reservation in Crawford County discovered the decomposed body of a white male wrapped in bed linens. The unburied remains were consistent in appearance to Daryl James Oxford, age 39, who was reported missing in Crawford County after having been last seen on Monday, April 9, 2012 south of Lizella, GA.

Crawford County Sheriff’s investigators and agents from the Perry GBI office had developed evidence previously suggesting Oxford was deceased. The remains were found in the general area authorities were searching for the missing man. An autopsy and forensic tests by the GBI Medical Examiner to identify the body and determine the cause of death are pending.
