DECATUR – The body found yesterday in a Newton County creek has been positively identified by a GBI medical examiner as 55-year-old Timothy Clements of Conyers.   An autopsy completed this morning at the GBI crime lab determined the manner of death to be homicide. The cause of death is not being released at this time due to the investigative value. The body was identified by Clements’ dental work. The investigation into Clements’ death is being conducted by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office with assistance by the GBI.  

Clements, who worked as a landscaper, had been reported missing by his family on Friday, January 12, at 11:30am. He was last seen leaving for work on Thursday, January 12, at 6:00am.  

Clements’ truck, a 1991 red, Ford F150, Georgia tag 955BJR is missing.  Anyone with information on the truck or on this case is asked to call the Newton County Sheriff’s Office at 678-625-1400 or the GBI Tip Line at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477).
