CHICKAMAUGA -  As a result of information provided by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force in Pennsylvania, the GBI and Walker County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant yesterday on the home of a Chickamauga man and discovered numerous images of child pornography on his computer.

Michael David Williamson, 62, was charged with possession of child pornography and taken to the Walker County jail. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office also charged Williamson with failing to register as a sex offender after discovering that Williamson was on the sex offender registry in California but had not registered in Georgia.

The High Technology Investigations Unit of the GBI, which also houses the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, began their investigation in late June after being contacted by the Pennsylvania ICAC Task Force where an undercover officer posing as a young girl had been chatting online with Williamson.   The resulting investigation by Georgia ICAC led to the identity and location of Williamson.  During the search warrant, agents seized 2 computers and other related items which will be analyzed later by GBI computer forensic specialists.
