GBI SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY SITE NOW LINKS GEORGIANS TO VITAL INFORMATION ON PREVENTING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

ATLANTA -- Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) Georgia and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) have joined forces to provide the public with key information that will help prevent child sexual abuse.

Beginning November 27, 2007, the GBI’s Sex Offender Registry web page, will feature a link to a PCA Georgia website created specifically for Georgians accessing the GBI’s online registry.

“The sex offender registry is a valuable resource for parents wanting to know where convicted sex offenders are living in their communities.” says Vernon Keenan, Director of the GBI. “However, most children are at risk of being sexually molested by someone in their inner circle who is not on the registry; like a family member, a friend of the family or a trusted neighbor. In light of this, parents need advice and information that can help them protect their children from becoming a victim of child molestation.”

Now, when Georgians go to the GBI registry, they can access the PCA Georgia website with just one click of the mouse.

“Not only will users gain access to important information about preventing child sexual abuse, but they will also have access to all of the resources offered by PCA Georgia,” says Doug Middleton, CEO of PCA Georgia.  ”We applaud the GBI for partnering with us in this important effort to protect Georgia’s children, and we encourage all Georgians to access this information – even if they think that child sexual abuse will not impact their lives.”
