Blairsville Bank Robbery Arrest

BLAIRSVILLE - On Tuesday, December 11, 2007, an individual entered the Appalachian Community Bank in Blairsville, Georgia and presented a note to the teller demanding money.  The individual was provided an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank.  His vehicle was spotted headed north on Highway 129 by Blairsville police officers and deputy sheriffs from Union County.  A vehicle chase ensued ending with the suspect wrecking his vehicle.  He then fled on foot and was captured in a wooded area near the scene of the wreck.  This individual is identified as Burton Arnold Coker of Marble, North Carolina.  He is being held at the Union County Jail charged with one (1) count of robbery.

G.B.I. agents are investigating the possibility of Coker being involved in several other North Georgia bank robberies which have taken place over the past year and a half.
